George Horner was introduced to the game of golf by his father at the age of 5. His father’s love for the game was his inspiration to pursue golf. By the age of six, George made a hole in one at Brandywine Country Club, which made him appear in the local newspaper. At this early age, the golf world started to take notice of George Horner and he was even featured in several newspapers. His passion for the game continued throughout high school where he took part in various professional golf tournaments, which earned him a scholarship to The Golf Academy of America in Orlando.
While attending there he was able to further his skills as a golfer and learn more about the golf industry as a whole, graduating with an associate degree in business communications.
George worked as head golf professional at Patriots Glen golf course in Elkton before new management took over the club in 2011. Relocating to his hometown of Cleveland Ohio he worked in the horseracing industry and started a family. In the summer of 2018, he was given the opportunity as the assistant golf professional at Back Creek Golf Club and made the move back to the east coast.
George is currently pursuing his original desire for the game as the interim director of golf at The Links at St. Anne’s one of Middletown’s newest golf courses where he now uses his talent and abilities to educate other individuals about the game of golf. He believes that golf is all about mentality and as a result, golfers must be mentally smart to be able to succeed in the game. George also feels that one must enjoy the game and have a real love for it to be able to play.
